Green Mountain Distance Mushers (GMDM) was established in the fall of 1996 as a mid-distance dog sledding club. What is mid-distance? Dog sledding is divided into sprint, mid-distance, and long distance categories.  Mid-distance races are typically 15, 30 to 60 miles for 4, 6 and 8 dog teams, and 15 miles for 1 to 3 dog skijoring teams.

• Encourage mid-distance mushing
• Promote the humane treatment of working sled dogs
• Sponsor mid-distance sled dog races
• Educate the public about the working sled dog
• Have fun with our dogs

Our fun-filled family events allow us to share our love of dogs and contribute to our community. Our annual Craftsbury True Companion Sled Dog Race is held in January each year.
